CHESHIRE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The largest independent retailer in East Anglia, East of England Co-operative Society, today announced their immediate plans for pilot implementation of category management solutions from Galleria, geared to optimizing the retailers merchandising strategy and operations.
As one of the largest consumer co-operatives in the UK, it has been imperative to retain the customer centric vision that first set East of England Co-op apart from the competition some 140 years ago. Part of their commitment to this is demonstrated in their grocery strategy; with a strong range of locally sourced produce from over 130 different suppliers, stocked across the 135 grocery store estate.
A new partnership began in June 2013, when, in order to further support this on-going customer centric vision, the retailer signed a contract with Galleria RTS, the leading provider of customer focused category planning, automation and optimization solutions. The bespoke offering from Galleria, which includes core functionality in the areas of category management and micro space planning was created as a result of challenges faced by the retailer regarding their existing planogram delivery process. With the initial stages of the project now completed, it is anticipated that the installation will be rolled out across the estate following a successful pilot.
The implementation of Galleria’s Foundation Services (GFS), Customer Centric Merchandising (CCM) and Store Operations Workbench (SOW) solutions will facilitate the operational delivery of an automated, optimized and generally enhanced merchandising strategy.
“Galleria offers us a complete, end to end, single-source solution to automate our merchandising processes across our entire estate. These enhancements will embolden both our customer and community focus, which remains as important today as it was 140 years ago,” said John Dixey, IT Development Controller, East of England Co-op.
Through the deployment of CCM, East of England Co-operative is able to automate the production of store specific planograms centered on strategically optimized assortments across ambient and fresh categories, reinforcing their customer-centric merchandising strategy across numerous categories, in full recognition of the constraints applied by the supply chain, store space and inventory requirements.
The retailer selected Galleria as their preferred solution provider due to their uniquely comprehensive product offering which is both scalable and operational. Through Galleria Foundation Services the retailer is able to enhance their entire space management ecosystem; simplifying integration tasks, synchronizing data and establishing a “single version of the truth”, whilst SOW is the next generation in effective communication in retail, delivering true two-way communication between stakeholders and enabling dynamic interactions.
The roll out to pilot sites commenced in May 2014, with the rest of the estate to follow in the coming months. In addition to this, East of England Co-operative intends to implement supplementary solutions from Galleria moving forward, with further functionality coming from their Promotional Display Optimization (PDO) and Intelligent Store Optimization (ISO) macro space planning solution.
