Mobile Wallet Technology Provider Cortex MCP Moves Headquarters from West Coast to Cambridge

Cites Region’s Rise as Epicenter for Mobile Payments Talent, Infrastructure

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--()--Cortex MCP, provider of a next-generation technology platform for mobile wallets, today announced it has relocated company headquarters from California to Cambridge. The company, based in the tech hotbed centered around Kendall Square, said the region offers the talent and infrastructure necessary to fuel its growth and efforts to advance a new foundational payments platform designed to overcome the obstacles to broader mobile wallet development.

“This move to Cambridge will enable Cortex MCP to accelerate its plans to build out our secure product offerings and demonstrate that our platform solves the inherent limitations of failed attempts to support mobile wallets adoption,” said Shaunt Sarkissian, CEO of Cortex MCP. “The developments over the next few years will determine the future of mobile wallets, mobile payments and mobile loyalty for the next 30, and Cortex and Massachusetts will be ground zero”.

Cortex MCP’s approach to mobile wallet technology – an IP protected platform that can be used by any device without disrupting a merchant’s POS infrastructure -- marks a significant departure from past efforts that have failed to address the concerns of consumers and merchants, as well as other market influencers. Since the company went public with its mobile wallet platform approach at a conference earlier this year, Cortex has emerged as a leading voice in this fast-evolving market. Last month, Cortex released an eBook which analyzes the issues shaping mobile wallet developments.

Cortex’s VP of Product and Business Development Rob Stringer, who opened the company’s office in the Cambridge Innovation Center in 2013, is one several Cortex executives with ties to the region’s burgeoning mobile industry community. This history, together with availability of talent and infrastructure, were key to the company’s decision to establish its headquarters in Cambridge. Cortex expects to extend its hiring plans with the addition of engineering, product development, marketing, sales and operational support staff.

“We look forward to working with the community here to assemble the team that will advance the Cortex MCP platform and help finally realize the promise of the mobile wallet,” said Stringer.
