PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Scott Sanchez and Niki Acosta, two of the most vocal OpenStack evangelists in the cloud computing industry, have joined Metacloud, Inc., which deploys and supports OpenStack-based private clouds for some of the world's largest enterprises.
The appointment of Sanchez and Acosta comes on the heels of a number of important milestones for the cloud service provider. Last month, Metacloud announced it had raised $15 million in funding from investors AME Cloud Ventures, Canaan Partners, Pelion Venture Partners, Silicon Valley Bank, Storm Ventures, and UMC Capital. Over the past 12 months, the company has experienced a quadrupling of its cloud footprint due to both new customers and existing customer growth. The company has also doubled in headcount in the past year and plans to hire another 60 employees by 2016.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have such top-caliber OpenStack insiders join our team,” said Metacloud co-founder and CEO Sean Lynch. “Scott and Niki’s experience and passion driving the adoption of OpenStack will make them powerful assets at Metacloud, and will help accelerate demand for our product.”
Scott Sanchez is an accomplished strategic leader with extensive experience in cloud computing and has been appointed as Vice President of Strategy at Metacloud. Scott joined Rackspace in 2011 with a mission to “make OpenStack win.” He helped grow the OpenStack ecosystem and develop the global market for public and private OpenStack clouds. Prior to joining Rackspace, Scott was co-founder at a number of technology startups and held leadership roles at Goldman Sachs and Unisys.
“It is not about the technology you select, but what you do with it. Metacloud delivers a public cloud experience to enterprises, privately. It ‘just works,’ letting those customers focus on their applications and business, not on being experts in managing and scaling a private cloud,” said Sanchez. “The team has built a solid product offering with top-tier customer wins, and I’m thrilled to be joining the executive team to help accelerate success in the market.”
Working alongside Sanchez, Niki Acosta, Metacloud’s new Director of Evangelism, brings deep experience in the cloud industry. She joined Rackspace in 2008 where she held diverse roles throughout the organization and became a frequent speaker and recognized name in the cloud industry. An outspoken advocate for women in tech, Acosta will serve as Metacloud’s lead evangelist to educate and empower OpenStack enthusiasts about the business value of using Metacloud for their OpenStack private cloud needs.
“OpenStack changed the game for how companies build, deploy, and manage their applications. My passion is helping users and operators understand this shift, and to guide them to the future,” said Acosta. “My mission will be to help the world see Metacloud through my eyes – an amazing team, with a proven product and vision for the future!”
Sanchez and Acosta will be a part of Metacloud’s new Austin, Texas office, which will be looking to hire 20-30 employees over the next 24 months across engineering, operations, marketing, and sales. Please check out http://jobs.metacloud.com/ for more information about new job openings.
