Health Data Consortium and WCG Announce Partnership to Track Trends and Mine Insights from Online Health Data Conversations

WASHINGTON & NEW YORK--()--WCG and the Health Data Consortium (HDC) announced today that they have entered into a partnership to track and glean insights from the continuous stream of health data conversations happening across digital media. The aim of the partnership is to provide HDC’s members and its broader audience of healthcare executives, health data entrepreneurs, academics and health data enthusiasts with a deeper level of understanding of health data conversations through observations of real-time data, and regular insights reporting.

“The core of our mission at Health Data Consortium is to promote and evangelize access to open health data,” said Dwayne Spradlin, CEO of Health Data Consortium. “Listening to and understanding the health data community is vital to our mission, and why our partnership with WCG is so important. Knowing what’s most significant to the health data community will help us and our members interact with, respond to, and engage the community more effectively.”

The centerpiece of the partnership is the Health Data Conversation Radar, a customized tracker that provides real-time views of the most relevant health-data Twitter conversations among three specific communities: U.S.-based doctors, members of Congress, and top U.S. health data media influencers. Displaying conversation data including trending keywords, top influencers, conversation volume and a live Tweetstream, the Radar provides a continuous look at what these specific influencer groups are saying, sharing and posting about health data.

Launching at HDC’s Health Datapalooza event in Washington, D.C., this week, the Health Data Conversation Radar is available to the public via HDC’s website, and at www.hdcradar.com.

“The rise of the health data movement has brought a rise in continuous conversations on the topic – many relevant, some not,” said Rob Cronin, WCG Practice Lead for Digital Health. “By better understanding the trends among who’s talking and leading the conversation, what topics are most discussed and where, and even knowing what’s not being said, our goal is to help cut though the noise around health data to focus and engage on what’s most important.”

The debut of the Health Data Conversation Radar is the starting point for the HDC-WCG partnership, which will also deliver regular reporting on insights to HDC’s members to help educate them and enhance their understanding of online conversations about health data, and in turn promote more effective communication and sharing of open data across the healthcare spectrum.

Attendees at Health Datapalooza can participate in live demonstrations of the Health Data Conversation Radar on the exhibit floor. To learn more, use the demo version of the Radar at www.hdcradar.com, and track Radar insights on Twitter using hashtag #hdcradar.
