KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The 2014 Taiwan International Boat Show has not only attracted a large number of visitors to Kaohsiung Exhibition Center but also resulted in strong buying. Among the 60 exhibited yachts worth more than NT$7 billion, the most expensive one, the NT$330 million yacht “RP110”manufactured by Horizon Group, was purchased by a Japanese businessman.
Horizon Group said it has to borrow the yacht from its Japanese owner for the exhibition because it was already transported to Japan before the boat show, and the mysterious buyer went on board his yacht when visiting the exhibition together with his wife and children. The Japanese, who loves fishing, highly praised the organization of the exhibition and said Japan should learn from Taiwan’s experiences.
Kaohsiung City Mayor Chen Chu, Deputy Director General Da-wei Hsu of Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Executive Vice President Walter M.S. Yeh, Chairman John Lu of Taiwan Yacht Industry Association and Hirayu Yoshihiro, representative of Japanese buyers, announced jointly the marvelous results of the exhibition -- 32 yachts worth NT$1 billion were sold mainly to buyers from Japan, mainland China, Hong Kong and Singapore, and the purchase of another 30 yachts worth NT$4.2 billion is under negotiations.
“RP110,”which is claimed to be “a mobile luxury house on the sea,” is the fourth yacht Mr. Yoshihiro purchased from Taiwan in 10 years and he praised the high quality of Taiwan’s yacht manufacturing techniques and design, saying “Taiwan- manufactured yachts are really great and I can feel Horizon CEO John Lu’s passion for the yacht industry.” The real estate and leisure tourism operator said he bought the yachts mainly for his employees to engage in maritime leisure activities.
Horizon Yacht, the parent company of Horizon Group, was established by John Lu in 1987 and he named the yacht brand “Horizon” to signify the infinite vastness of oceans which gives human beings unlimited imagination and the possibility of unlimited development, hoping all employees can develop their individual unlimited potential and all customers can maximize their imagination to jointly create their yacht dream and build their dream yachts.
