U.S.VETS Receives $500,000 from Activision’s Call of Duty™ Endowment

LOS ANGELES--()--As U.S.VETS prepares to open a one-stop service center for veterans in downtown L.A.’s recently renovated Patriotic Hall, Activision’s Call of Duty Endowment, a private nonprofit foundation based in Santa Monica that supports groups placing former service members into high quality careers, has awarded the organization a $500,000 grant to support programs that help put veterans back to work.

“We’re seeing a lot of veterans coming home that are skilled, educated, and ready to get back to work, but are struggling to find employment,” said Stephen Peck, president & CEO of U.S.VETS. “Many veterans have a hard time figuring out how to market their skills in the corporate world. We’re working to bridge the gap between employers and these veterans by helping translate their military experience into civilian careers.”

The Call of Duty Endowment chose to support U.S.VETS programs, citing “a remarkable retention and placement track record working with a population of largely homeless veterans.” At Patriotic Hall, U.S.VETS, designated by the county as the building’s lead agency, will offer housing, medical, legal and other services, in addition to employment.

"On this Memorial Day we are showing our deep respect for those who have served and sacrificed by tangibly helping vets improve their lives,” said Dan Goldenberg, executive director of the Call of Duty Endowment. “No single means of support is more consistently tied to successful and sustained re-integration of vets into our society than meaningful work. Our support of U.S.VETS is due to their exceptional record at getting vets ready to compete and win great jobs."

The donation is part of more than $4 million in veteran employment grants the Call of Duty Endowment will deliver in 2014.
