DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE:THC) has launched a new national brand of urgent care centers called MedPost Urgent Care that provide high-quality, efficient and convenient healthcare to patients. The centers are part of a growing national network of walk-in urgent care facilities that are open seven days a week, with extended hours, to care for residents in their communities.
“Healthcare consumers across the United States expect convenient and timely access to quality care for their immediate concerns,” said Kyle Burtnett, senior vice president, outpatient services, at Tenet. “Urgent care centers fill that gap, and MedPost is there to meet consumers’ needs.”
There are currently 23 MedPost Urgent Care centers operating in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas. MedPost plans to double the number of centers by the end of 2014.
“The move to grow our urgent care business, along with our entire portfolio of outpatient facilities, is part of Tenet’s broader corporate strategy to offer more services to patients and to expand into faster-growing, less capital intensive, higher-margin businesses,” Burtnett said.
MedPost Urgent Care centers are staffed by physician specialists in primary care, internal medicine and emergency medicine, as well as nurse practitioners and other health professionals. The facilities are equipped with imaging and laboratory services.
“Our goal is to be the gold standard for urgent care in the markets we serve, providing the right type of care at the right time, in a convenient and compassionate way,” said Alan Cason, chief executive officer of MedPost and vice president, outpatient services, at Tenet. “Continuity of care is also important. We make timely referrals for patients to obtain follow-up and specialty care when needed.”
Cason added, “Urgent care centers fill an important need, especially on weekends and evenings when the offices of primary care physicians are not open. They also relieve some of the strain on crowded emergency departments that are equipped for more serious patient conditions.”
MedPost Urgent Care centers are among Tenet’s 190 outpatient facilities, which include diagnostic imaging centers, ambulatory surgery centers and freestanding emergency departments.
Tenet Healthcare Corporation, a leading healthcare services company, through its subsidiaries operates 77 hospitals, 190 outpatient centers and Conifer Health Solutions, a leader in business process solutions for healthcare providers serving more than 700 hospital and other clients nationwide. Tenet’s hospitals and related healthcare facilities are committed to providing high quality care to patients in the communities they serve. For more information, please visit www.tenethealth.com.
