MONTEREY PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SynerMed, a leading Managed Services Organization (MSO), and its 400 employees donate $5,655 today to St. Francis Center, a community organization that provides hope and support to homeless and extremely low-income families and individuals in downtown Los Angeles.
“St. Francis Center is more than just a soup kitchen or a food pantry,” said James Mason, President and Chief Executive Officer at SynerMed. “The center reaches beyond the immediate needs of those they serve to help achieve health and stability by providing access to shelter, job assistance and healthcare.”
As part of SynerMed’s commitment to social responsibility and community service, employees donate $2 a week voluntarily to support a local charity or organization. Last year, employees raised more than $30,000 for 22 organizations and charities throughout Los Angeles County for less than a cup of coffee.
St. Francis Center’s programs respond to the basic, human necessities through food, which directly aligns with its mission to “feed, serve and walk with the poor as a community of hope in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi.”
The homeless population in Los Angeles increased 15% in the last two years, according to Eric Carlson, Development Manager at St. Francis Center.
“With the help of volunteers and donations, St. Francis Center gives people the tools to build better lives and neighborhoods and break the cycle of poverty,” said St. Francis Center Executive Director Jill Trousdale.
Last year, St. Francis Center served over 100,000 warm meals and nutritious sack lunches and over 1,000 guests received referrals for healthcare services, shelter and help with obtaining identification for jobs and social security.
