CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA), the leading association for lower middle market private equity funds and investors, today announced its 2014 Midwest Private Equity Conference at the Ritz-Carlton Water Tower in Chicago. This year’s event will begin with an update on the latest activities of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Investment Division from SBA Associate Administrator for the Office of Investment and Innovation, Javier Saade at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29.
“We’re proud to host the SBIA Midwest Private Equity Conference in Chicago, where one of our country’s most vibrant private equity and alternative lending markets assists small-to mid-sized businesses throughout the United States in achieving their strategic growth capital objectives,” said Thomas Affolter, SBIA Midwest Regional President and Principal of Victory Park Capital.
The Midwest Private Equity Conference continues on Friday, May 30 with a session analyzing the state of the lower middle market, moderated by B. Graeme Frazier IV, a Partner at GF Data Resources, and featuring a panel comprised of Mr. Affolter from Victory Park Capital, Cleary Gull Managing Director Greg Gorlinski, Monroe Capital Partners Managing Director and Principal Tom Aronson, and Prairie Capital Partner Darren Snyder. This session is followed by a discussion on common findings connected to the SEC’s private funds examination process by SBIA President Brett Palmer and SEC Private Funds Unit Exam Manager Matt Harris and Private Funds Unit Examiner Brad Kartholl on what private fund managers can expect during the fund examination process.
“We look forward to our Midwest and other regional members attending this year’s event in Chicago and discussing the latest credit, M&A deal trends and regulatory issues facing investors in the American heartland where traditional financing options remain limited for our nation’s small-to middle market-sized businesses. We will also share meaningful content which will help our membership with the management and execution of their investment operations, as well as offer networking events,” said Brett Palmer, President of the SBIA.
The Midwest Private Equity Conference’s keynote speaker, Chicago Cubs Chairman and Owner and Incapital, LLC Chairman, Mr. Tom Ricketts, will be introduced by Doug Gourley, Managing Director of Citi Private Bank.
Conference attendees can enjoy the opening reception, Dealmaking Chicago Style, on Thursday, May 29, being hosted by select lower middle market limited partners, investment bankers and fund managers at 5:00 p.m., where tasting tables will offer participants the latest craft brews and networking in the evening.
