NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Forbes and the City of Philadelphia today announced the launch of the first-ever Under 30 Summit, which is expected to bring together more than 1,000 young entrepreneurs and game changers from across the United States. The Under 30 Summit will take place October 19-22, 2014, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and other venues in Philadelphia and will feature a full agenda of panels, TED-style presentations and keynotes, “Shark Tank”-style pitch contests and an Under 30 Music Festival with leading bands under the age of 30, as well as mentorship from successful business leaders, including Danny Meyer and Jim Breyer among others. The summit will conclude with the Under 30 Food Festival, highlighting some of America’s most notable young chefs.
“This unprecedented summit, the biggest in Forbes’ 97-year-history, will provide an exclusive platform for idea sharing, collaboration and innovation for the young disruptors who will run America for the next 50 years,” said Randall Lane, editor of Forbes magazine. “Each of these remarkable achievers has been hand-chosen and vetted. Our goal is to inspire them and let them figure out how they can work together to change the world. Philadelphia, with its history, entrepreneurial culture and young population, is the perfect location to accomplish this.”
Forbes’ Under 30 Summit is an extension of Forbes magazine’s annual “30 Under 30” list – which features 30 game-changing entrepreneurs under 30, in 15 fields, as judged by some of the greatest minds in each category. Attendees of the summit will be culled from the past three years of this list, which has become one of the magazine’s most popular franchises. The third annual “30 Under 30” list generated more than 8 million page views online in just the first week of its publication in January 2014.
“Philadelphia is thrilled to welcome Forbes to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection and to be selected as the host city for the first Under 30 Summit,” said Mayor Michael A. Nutter. “Philadelphia is best known for its historical attractions, but we have other incredible amenities, like our burgeoning restaurant and food scene, enviable arts and culture landscape and diverse economic sectors, that make us a great host city for the best and brightest young achievers – not to mention, we’re the fastest growing City for young people in America. I want to thank Forbes for choosing Philadelphia, and I am looking forward to the Under 30 Summit.”
