CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--()--InterSystems, a global leader in software for connected care, today announced it has been named the “clear leader” in non-U.S. EMR market momentum, according to a new KLAS report Global EMR Market Share 2014: Vendor Momentum Outside the United States.” The report looks at current and new contracts for electronic medical record (EMR) systems in hospitals outside of the U.S., including InterSystems TrakCare®, an Internet-based unified healthcare information system.

“InterSystems experienced the most validated wins and did so across four regions, adding 14% growth to an already-large customer base of 439 hospitals. Their Internet-based TrakCare solution is found in every region of the world except Northern America,” the KLAS report states.

According to Chris Brown, KLAS research director and author of the report, “The global EMR landscape continues to grow at an increasing rate. The vendors who are winning the most market share are the ones who are best adapting to country-specific requirements and providing integrated solutions.”

Sold only outside the U.S., InterSystems TrakCare is a unified healthcare information system that rapidly delivers the benefits of an electronic patient record. Because healthcare customer needs vary widely by country, InterSystems has created local editions of TrakCare that adapt global best practices to country-specific requirements. TrakCare is a multi-language, multi-currency system that comes pre-configured to meet these local needs, thereby reducing implementation risk and expediting deployment.

“Our customers are seeing the value of an integrated solution that enables coordinated care across regions and nations,” said Steve Garrington, Vice President, International for InterSystems. “We are pleased to see growing market adoption of our approach, which we believe has been validated by the KLAS findings.”

Other highlights from the KLAS report:

  • Group purchases: “InterSystems benefited from group purchasing decisions that increased total hospital market share relative to the number of new contracts. For example, there could be five or more hospitals for every one contract,” the KLAS report states, noting that InterSystems (in Scotland) and Epic (in Denmark) won large numbers of new hospitals due to group purchases.
  • Global reach: New customers for InterSystems TrakCare represented the largest number of countries – nine – for KLAS-validated customers. “Approximately 499 hospitals contracted on their EMR solution, with significant growth in Scotland and Chile,” the report states.
  • Latin America: InterSystems TrakCare has the largest market share in Latin America, with an estimated 96 hospitals including 15 new hospital customers in Chile alone.
