Mobility has also gained ground since the last Value Matrix, where major vendors are announcing the ability to support mobile BI capabilities that go beyond simplified dashboards.

BI platforms providing scalability to key areas continue to provide value, either delivering vertical solutions in individual core areas or pursuing rapid growth for best-of-breed status in all areas simultaneously. Leaders in the Value Matrix include Birst, GoodData, IBM, Information Builders, Microsoft, MicroStrategy, SAP, and SAS.
More granular BI value propositions continue to emerge with vendors focusing on line-of-business support for targeted customer needs. The areas providing value to customers are data storage and retrieval, data discovery, analytics that translate to actionable information, and reporting; all with embedded BI functionality designed to easily integrate into new applications.
Customers are increasingly expecting features that enhanced mobile BI can offer. The emergence of analytic application tools provides high ROI to projects using simple applications for managers and employees needing little analytics training to evaluate data or to provide direct visibility to other end-users.
