Michael Barton will lead Pala's Investment Team in the new role of Chief Investment Officer, overseeing opportunity evaluation, transaction execution, and investment management. Michael has been involved in many of Pala’s largest transactions, has developed numerous investment opportunities and, as a board member, has provided effective oversight and value-enhancing guidance to many of Pala’s investments.
Martyn Buttenshaw has been promoted to Vice President within Pala's Investment Team. In particular, Martyn has worked closely with Sierra Rutile since 2011 in the successful development and execution of strategic plans, growth projects, product marketing, and achievement of operational goals. Martyn has also evaluated and developed a number of investment opportunities across the mining sector.
Mike Brown has been promoted to Managing Director and will continue to lead Pala's Technical and Operations Team. Mike has overseen operational successes across Pala’s portfolio, including the doubling of production at Sierra Rutile, and the successful construction and commissioning of Asian Mineral Resources’ underground nickel sulfide mine. Mike remains responsible for all technical aspects of Pala's portfolio of mining assets, including mine construction, expansion, and optimization.
Phil Day has joined Pala’s Technical and Operations Team in the role of Senior Manager. Phil brings extensive metallurgical expertise to the group, having led AMEC’s process engineering business in the Americas. During the course of his career, Phil advised a large number of mining companies across a number of commodities with wide-ranging processing facilities and solutions. Prior to AMEC, Phil worked for BHP Billiton and Anaconda in Australia, also in process engineering.
Philip Clegg has been promoted to Vice President and will assume a new role as the head of Pala's Finance Team. Philip has delivered a number of financial projects for Pala’s portfolio companies and, in 2012, was seconded as the CFO of Dumas Mining, where he advised on M&A and strategic partnerships, developed management processes, and refinanced the business. In his new role, Philip will lead Pala’s partnership with its portfolio companies in financial matters, including M&A, capital raising, financial strategy and management, and will oversee acquisition finance for new Pala investments.
Richard Brown will remain in his role as Manager – Finance. Richard will retain day-to-day responsibility for all internal financial matters, including financial and management reporting, and cash management. In addition, Richard will continue to lead tax and corporate structuring, for both Pala and potential new investments.
