BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dennis Eder, managing director of Strategic Health Group, will be among the faculty at the Association of Directors of Geriatric Academic Programs (ADGAP) leadership summit, May 14, at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The first-ever meeting of its kind will be held as a pre-conference session before the annual scientific meeting of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS) taking place May 15 –17.
Participants in the session will learn many of the practical skills needed by a geriatrics leader in a healthcare system and will work in small groups to create a template for a business plan that they can utilize in their own organization. They will also learn how to “speak the language” of the CEO, CFO, COO and explore how geriatrics programs and their leaders can continue to bring value to the healthcare system under today’s payment incentives of bundling, ACOs, dual-eligible plans and other challenges.
No stranger to the field of geriatric medicine and the challenges that industry is facing, Eder recently served on the faculty of the 12th annual Leadership & Management in Geriatrics Conference in Long Beach, California, co-sponsored by SCAN Health Plan and the UCLA Academic Geriatric Resource Center. He is also one of the senior leaders of the Practice Change Leaders for Aging and Health, a national program jointly supported by the Atlantic Philanthropies and the John A. Hartford Foundation and administered through the Division of Health Care Policy and Research at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
Eder will base his remarks at ADGAP on more than three decades of financial and operational experience with some of the nation’s leading health plans, integrated delivery systems, third party administrators and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Prior to co-founding Strategic Health Group in 2011 with partner Hank Osowski, Eder was the chief financial officer of SCAN Health Plan and was named “CFO of the Year” by the Los Angeles Business Journal. He is also the former CEO of CareAmerica Health Plans, CFO at Long Term Care Group, and CFO at Alpha Therapeutic Corporation.
