Glip Announces BYU Adlab Winner of First Glip-A-Thon Contest; Introduces New Kip the Alien Mascot

Glip’s new mascot Kip the Alien encourages teams to work like they are human

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Glip, Inc., the developer of the Glip conversation platform, announced Brigham Young University’s student Adlab agency team the winner of the Company’s first Glip-A-Thon hackathon-style contest for creative agencies. The BYU Adlab team submitted Glip’s new mascot “Kip the Alien,” who wants to help teams everywhere work like they are human.

“The first Glip-A-Thon resulted in a number of amazingly creative submissions, but just like there is only one conversation platform that helps teams connect like Glip, there was only one mascot that fully captured the simplicity, intelligence, and personality of Glip – Kip the Alien,” said Peter Pezaris, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Glip, Inc. “Glip is designed to help teams work together within conversations since teamwork starts with conversation, and as a more evolved and highly intelligent being Kip the Alien is the perfect mascot to help advise us humans to work more like humans.”

“As soon as we started using Glip our team wanted the mascot to convey that Glip is a smarter way to work and collaborate rather than email and texts which are not the fastest way to get work done,” said Brian Clay, Account Manager of Brigham Young University’s AdLab team. “We combined the images of an astronaut, since they tend to be the smartest people, and a frog, since it worked with Glip’s green branding, and the result was an alien of a higher intelligence that is now Kip.”

Winning out over dozens of professional agency submissions, “Kip the Alien” came in on top in social media voting and was the favorite mascot submission of the entire Glip team. All of the participating teams collaborated using the Glip conversation platform for 48 hours to develop concepts, sketches, and present a final pitch for the chance to win $5,000.

BYU Adlab is a student-run advertising agency with over 100 students that has worked with leading brands including Burger King, EA Sports, Holiday Inn, and Volkswagen. See the BYU Adlab team’s collaborative workflow in Glip to brainstorm, revise, and submit Glip’s new mascot in this recap video.
