Eid Passport Earns Safety Act Approval for RAPIDGate® System from U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Eid Passport receives highest-level Certification for leading high assurance identity management solution

HILLSBORO, Ore.--()--Eid Passport, Inc., a market leader in high-assurance identity management solutions and the largest commercial provider of vendor credentials at military facilities, has earned the highest level of SAFETY (Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies) Act approval from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the company’s RAPIDGate® system.

Eid Passport received SAFETY Act “Certification” of its RAPIDGate technology on April 7, 2014. The Department of Homeland Security now lists Eid Passport’s RAPIDGate technology on the agency’s list of SAFETY Act Approved Technologies.

The SAFETY Act is a key federal law passed by Congress as part of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, intended to encourage innovation and use of anti-terrorism technologies for homeland security. To earn SAFETY Act approval, a company must demonstrate that its products or services can effectively deter, defend against, identify, respond to, or mitigate an act of terrorism.

The SAFETY Act Certification covers Eid Passport’s RAPIDGate, RAPID-RCx® and RAPID-IAC™ programs, and provides important liability protections to the company as well as its customers and suppliers in the event of a covered act of terrorism.

“Eid Passport shares the Department of Homeland Security’s commitment to fostering technologies that protect our nation’s citizens and critical infrastructure,” said Steve Larson, Chairman and CEO of the company. “We are pleased to bring the benefits of the SAFETY Act to our customers and partners as we help highly secure facilities to increase security and streamline access for authorized personnel.”

In addition to SAFETY Act Certification, Eid Passport simultaneously received SAFETY Act “Designation,” which is a prerequisite to receiving Certification.

Through its RAPIDGate program, Eid Passport provides high-assurance identity management for more than 150 facilities worldwide, mitigating risk while streamlining authentication and verification for authorized personnel. To receive SAFETY Act approval from the Department of Homeland Security, the company’s RAPIDGate technology had to meet stringent criteria of effectiveness, reliability and safety as a qualified anti-terrorism technology.
