Human resources and learning officers from leading California employers are among the expert speakers added to the Talent Management Symposium: Leveraging Human Capital program on Friday, April 25, 2014, announced Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management. Human resources professionals, organization development leaders and functional managers and supervisors will hear speakers from both the business and the academic worlds discuss the art of attracting, developing, deploying and retaining talent to achieve strategic objectives and meet future business needs.

Session one, “International Challenges and Global Talent Acquisition,” explores global talent acquisition pitfalls that result in unanticipated attrition with Bernice Ledbetter, Practitioner Faculty of Organizational Theory and Management, Pepperdine University; Joseph Lee, Adjunct Professor, Pepperdine University; and Christine O'Brien, Director of Project Management, Amgen.

Session two, “The Retirement Boomers: Succession Management Best Practices and Knowledge Transfer Initiatives,” addresses baby boomer attrition and high potential leader identification and development in the context of succession planning strategies, practices and tools. The panel features John Atwood, Learning and Development Program Manager, Google, and Warren Bobrow, Owner and Founder, All About Performance, LLC.

Session three, “Best Practices in Delivering and Demonstrating the Value of Talent Management,” shares research findings on the impact of talent management practices on business performance metrics. Joe Black, Founding Partner, Knucklehead Strategist, LLC and Britta Wilson, most recently Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Organization and People, Paramount Pictures are the panel speakers.

Dr. John W. Boudreau will provide a lunchtime keynote address on lessons from the “Future of HR” research conducted at the Center for Effective Organizations, USC Marshall School of Business.

Annette Thompson, Senior Vice President and Chief Learning Officer, Farmers Insurance will close and address best practices that helped University of Farmers became the world’s #1 corporate university.

The all-day event will take place at the business school’s West Los Angeles-Howard Hughes Center campus, 6100 Center Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90045. This program has been submitted for professional credit to the HR Certification Institute for review.
