CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA) announced that its Application and Threat Intelligence (ATI) team has delivered the ability to simulate the exploitation of the critical OpenSSL vulnerability Heartbleed with an update to the ATI program. Customers can ensure key organizational data stays secure with the ability to test and assess the resiliency of their networks under an exploitation of Heartbleed.
The Heartbleed vulnerability stems from an implementation flaw in the OpenSSL cryptography library during handling of TLS/DTLS ‘heartbeat’ messages. By exploiting this vulnerability, hackers can glean information from these systems to possibly decrypt all communications to and from the impacted websites; putting end-users at risk for stolen credentials or more personal information.
While companies are rushing to patch the vulnerability, this may not always be possible due to software compatibility constraints. In the newest update, Ixia’s ATI team has isolated the key elements of the Heartbleed vulnerability to help our customers ensure the security of their networks.
“Heartbleed remains a very dangerous vulnerability in a widely deployed SSL implementation. This vulnerability will be costly to remediate, and has the potential to be the biggest security event of 2014,” said Steve McGregory, Director of Ixia’s Application and Threat Intelligence team. “With Ixia’s ATI team being able to quickly respond to and add new malicious attacks and vulnerabilities to our ATI program, our customers have the actionable insight they need to ensure their data is safe.”
Through a subscription service, Ixia’s ATI program provides comprehensive and current information on over 245 application protocols and 35,000 real world attacks found in core and mobile networks. Updated every two weeks, the ATI program allows customers using Ixia’s security solutions to have the necessary tools and insights to ensure their networks are validated and hardened against security attacks – even in the face of today’s modern hackers. Additionally, the customers using Ixia’s PerfectStorm security test solution can validate their networks for nearly a terabit of traffic.
