CEA Members Recognized as 2014 ENERGY STAR Partners of the Year

ARLINGTON, Va.--()--The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® is proud to congratulate its members recently named as ENERGY STAR Partners of the Year, among the highest honors given by the Environmental Protection Agency. The CEA members recognized for their commitment to protect the environment through superior energy efficiency are: Best Buy Co. Inc. (Richland, MN), Corning Inc. (Corning, NY), DIRECTV (El Segundo, CA), LG Electronics Inc. (Englewood Cliffs, NJ), Samsung Electronics (Ridgefield Park, NJ), and Verizon Wireless (Basking Ridge, NJ).

“These outstanding businesses have made a commitment to progressive strategies for sustainable practices and are dedicated to protecting the environment,” said Doug Johnson, vice president of technology policy at CEA. “Their commitment makes for a greener planet, a healthier environment, and real savings for both consumers and businesses. These accomplishments further demonstrate the consumer electronics industry’s continued leadership on energy efficiency and sustainability.”

While these companies were recognized for their outstanding achievements, the entire consumer electronics industry continues to make strong strides toward reducing its environmental footprint and increasing sustainability. Throughout April, which is also Earth Month, CEA and its members are highlighting the online resources that are available to help consumers live green, buy green and recycle responsibly. The website GreenerGadgets.org, for example, shows consumers how to achieve these goals through a consumer electronics energy calculator and an electronics recycler locator.

Other CEA efforts to inform and communicate with consumers during Earth Month include Twitter chats on energy and ecycling. From 8-9 p.m. EDT on April 23, CEA will discuss responsible electronics and share the latest from the eCycling Leadership Initiative. Participants in this chat using the hashtag #CEAGreen will be eligible to win a Samsung 2.1 Channel Sound Bar System with Wireless Subwoofer (HW-F450). For more information, visit GreenerGadgets.org/EarthMonth.
