NEW YORK & TINTON FALLS, N.J.--()--MagnaCare, a healthcare services company, today announces that Joseph Berardo Jr., CEO, MagnaCare, will be the Corporate honoree at the Working Theater’s 2014 Annual Awards Ceremony, Monday, April 7, 2014, 6 p.m., Sardi’s Restaurant, 234 W. 44th St. New York, N.Y. MagnaCare has served as a corporate sponsor for the past decade, playing a key role in supporting the theater’s affordable off-Broadway productions written for and about Americans working in the industrial, transportation and service industries.

“MagnaCare has been a true champion of the Working Theater’s mission for many years,” says Mark Plesent, producing artistic director, Working Theater. “We are honoring Joe Berardo for his ongoing commitment to bridging the gap between art, labor and community, and helping us to make theater a staple, not a luxury, for working people who may not feel a personal connection with high-profile commercial productions.”

MagnaCare will continue its support by co-sponsoring the Working Theater’s 29th season, which features the award-winning plays “Mercy Killers,” written and performed by Michael Milligan, and “Cherry Smoke,” by James McManus. The 2014 Annual Awards Ceremony, which raises money to support the new season, will also recognize Peter Ward, president, New York Hotel Trades Council, as its Labor honoree.
