CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Record-setting cold and a snow-filled winter did not slow Chicago-area runners from registering for this year’s 35th Anniversary Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K, the world’s largest 8-kilometer road race, which closed today when the 40,000-participant capacity was reached. Registration for the March 30 event opened on January 7. The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K is an annual tradition that signals the kickoff to Chicago’s outdoor running season, which culminates with the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in October.
“The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K is a Chicago tradition that area runners have been looking forward to after this long winter,” said Executive Race Director Carey Pinkowski. “When 40,000 people take to the streets of Chicago to celebrate running outdoors, it’s energizing. I think people are ready for good weather to come and a great running season.”

The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K will begin at 8:30 a.m. Central Time on Sunday, March 30. Runners will tour Chicago’s Loop, before concluding with live music at the traditional Post-Race Party in Grant Park.
