Evolv Partners with Top Universities to Power Innovative Workforce Research

Universities leverage Evolv’s unparalleled workforce big data network to drive new insights into hiring and management practices

SAN FRANCISCO--()--Evolv, Inc., the leading provider of big data solutions for workforce optimization, announced that it has added two new partnerships with leading academic institutions to drive innovation in workforce research and ensure academic rigor on Evolv’s big data findings. The Searle Center for Law, Regulation and Economic Growth at Northwestern University and the Rotman School of Management are the latest academic organizations to join Evolv’s network of research partners. Partnering one of the largest collections of workforce data with the brightest minds in management academia creates an unmatched platform for human capital analytics innovation – with the objective of creating a better workplace for employees and a more profitable human capital performance for their employers. Additionally, applying academic rigor and peer review to Evolv’s vast big data network, workforce science and analysis further validates Evolv’s research methods and findings.

“We live in an age where Big Data is so powerful that it’s sometimes feared; we’re trying to change that perception by opening our large dataset to academia to ensure our findings are validated against the highest academic standards and can be used to further research how to hire and retain people for jobs that fit them best,” said Dr. Michael Housman, Chief Analytics Officer at Evolv. “Especially as we move to a more service and information-driven economy, a thriving and satisfied workforce is paramount. Our projects with these respected research institutions, like Northwestern, seek to uncover new insights about how businesses and employees can work together to benefit both the bottom line and employees’ careers.”

Evolv works with researchers at six universities across North America, including the Yale School of Management and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In its new engagement with Northwestern’s Searle Center for Law, Regulation and Economic Growth, Evolv plans to study “toxic employees” to quantify the effects they have on employees and employers, while with University of Toronto, researchers aim to understand the factors that make someone an effective or ineffective supervisor. Current research projects have yielded insight into the value of employee referral programs, which have allowed employers to optimize referral benefits in order to source better talent and engage their existing workforce.

“Our team here at Northwestern is excited to partner with Evolv. Their unique data, paired with Northwestern faculty's expertise, is already producing new academic findings and delivering actionable insight for business," said Nicola Persico from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management.

These academic partnerships are another significant milestone in Evolv’s growth trajectory. Today’s announcement comes fresh on the heels of Evolv being named one of the top 10 Most Innovative Companies in big data by Fast Company.
