FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This June will mark the sixth annual National Employee Wellness Month (NEWM, twitter hashtag #NEWM2014), an initiative designed to empower business leaders to successfully engage employees in healthy lifestyles. The sponsors invite companies and organizations of all sizes across the country to participate by pledging their support for this annual initiative and promoting healthy habits in the workplace this June.
Healthy company cultures drive productivity and engagement. With these issues and healthcare costs directly impacting the bottom line, National Employee Wellness Month highlights the workplace's role in creating a healthy, engaged workforce – and its impact on the business. Created in 2009 by Virgin Pulse in partnership with the Strategies to Overcome and Prevent (STOP) Obesity Alliance, National Employee Wellness Month is sponsored by these organizations along with the Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease and WorldatWork.
More than 175 organizations and 70,000 employees participated in National Employee Wellness Month in 2013. Today, organizations are once again invited to pledge their support for this important initiative.
Organizations are invited to pledge support and become Proud Supporters of National Employee Wellness Month 2014 for no cost. Here’s how:
- Pledge Your Organization’s Support: Lend your company name and logo to support the month. They’ll appear on NationalEmployeeWellnessMonth.com before June 2014 and in the campaign’s related activities.
- Support Employee Health: Promote at least one healthy activity at your workplace this June – and all year round.
Proud Supporters of National Employee Wellness Month will get a free toolkit featuring a variety of resources and ideas to promote their organization’s leadership and support of this important initiative with their workforce, community, and local media. Proud Supporters will also receive free health and wellness resources, survey data, webinar invitations, and more.
