New Picture Book Captures Unbreakable Bond Between True Friends Living Half a World Apart

MINNEAPOLIS--()--What does it mean to be best friends forever when you can’t see your best friend anymore? Young readers will find out in the heartwarming new picture book, The Only Alex Addleston in All These Mountains, published by Carolrhoda Books, a division of Lerner Publishing Group.

Alex Addleston and Alex Addleston do everything together. They chase fireflies, collect crawdads, and they even code secret messages. But when Alex's parents move her family to Kenya, the two friends lose contact with each other. Half a world apart, each Alex keeps the other close while climbing trees, counting stars, and playing games.

Award-winning author James Solheim tells a magical tale in which one day, just maybe, Alex and Alex will rediscover what it means to be best friends, no matter what. With charming, lively illustrations by artist Jeffrey Ebbeler and a message that will touch young readers and the adults who may read with them, The Only Alex Addleston in All These Mountains is just right for read-aloud, new readers, reluctant readers, and Chapter One programs.
