BROOMFIELD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Brother Mobile Solutions, Inc. (BMS) a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brother International Corporation and premier provider of products for the mobile workforce, announces that its TD-2000 Series of label printers has received an iF Gold Award 2014 from the iF International Forum Design Forum in Hannover, Germany. The iF Gold Award is the organization’s highest recognition of the best-of-the-best products across all categories.
The iF Design Award is an international design competition hosted and judged by the iF International Forum Design. Winners are selected not only on the external design of the product, but also on criteria such as functionality and environmental performance. This year’s competition included more than 4,600 entries from 55 countries and only 75 of these products were chosen for the prestigious Gold Awards.
Brother Industries, Ltd., the parent company of Brother International Corporation, has repeatedly received the iF Design Award since its 1982 award for the alphanumeric typewriter. To date, the organization has won 46 awards, but this is the third consecutive year in which a Brother Industries product has received the iF Gold Award.
In selecting the TD-2000 printers, this year’s jury stated: “The visual simplicity of this label printer is fantastic. The product graphics are done very well. The fact that you can customize the interface in a variety of different ways shows an all-around good execution. Furthermore, it is a very iconic product and consistent in its series.”
David Crist, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing for Brother Mobile Solutions, notes: “We are pleased and honored to receive this, the highest international award for product design excellence. In developing new products for enterprise and field workforces, we strive to combine technology and design innovation with excellent product quality and functionality. Having these efforts recognized by the international community is deeply gratifying.”
The Brother TD-2000 Series of compact powered thermal printers are true hybrids, designed to bridge the gap between desktop functionality and mobile transportability. The series was engineered to help improve efficiencies in today’s demanding retail and healthcare environments. The retail model quickly generates high-resolution labels, price tags, shelf markers, promotions and sales receipts virtually anywhere in the retail environment. The healthcare model, featuring TrustSense™ Technology, generates patient ID wristbands, specimen and lab labels wirelessly, at the point of care ‒ enabling closer proximity to the patient and improved efficiencies for nurses and clinicians.
Brother Mobile Solutions’ P-touch EDGE® PT-E100 was also among the six Brother Industries products to receive 2014 iF Design Awards. The P-touch EDGE is a compact, handheld industrial labeling tool specifically designed for on-site labeling by electrical contractors in the field. Since its introduction in early 2013, Brother has expanded its popular EDGE series with the PT-E300 and new, top-of-the-line PT-E500.
