OKLAHOMA CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As part of its “Year of the Flavor,” Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is welcoming March with the introduction of its new and improved frozen yogurt flavor, Pistachio. The flavor will be available at all of the more than 300 participating Orange Leaf locations across the country starting today and will join Orange Leaf’s list of permanent menu items available throughout the year. In addition, Orange Leaf’s registered Ounce Back Card holders will earn double points on all purchases during the month of March.
Orange Leaf, America’s fastest growing froyo concept1, is celebrating the “Year of the Flavor” with a different featured flavor each month. While Pistachio is a new addition for March, the flavor evokes palates of times past - simpler days when flavors such as Pistachio, Butterscotch, Maple Walnut and Butter Pecan were on the tips of most tongues. The Pistachio flavor first appeared in frozen desserts, like ice cream, around 1840 as a creation credited to American chef James W. Parkinson of Philadelphia. Orange Leaf hopes to inspire a younger generation to experience this nut-free version of the traditional flavor in a whole new way with its in-store character, Mr. Mustachio. Customers can join the Mr. Mustachio fun online and in-store with downloadable mustaches, social promotions, coloring pages for kids and window clings in-store, where customers can snap a photo in Mr. Mustachio’s mustache.
Also in March, Orange Leaf’s registered Ounce Back Card holders will receive double points on all purchases. For every dollar spent, customers will earn two reward points instead of one, making it easier than ever to enjoy free froyo. Ounce Back Card holders who have not yet registered their card can do so online or via the My Orange Leaf iPhone or Android apps.
Customers are invited to invent their own culinary creations with the new Pistachio flavor, like all other Orange Leaf froyo flavors, by mixing, swirling, dividing or building the froyo with any combination of fruit, nuts, candy and other healthy or decadent treats from the do-it-yourself toppings bar. This also allows customers to control their portion size and nutritional value to fit their dietary needs and taste preferences. Customers can also enjoy the Pistachio flavor at home or on the go with freezer-friendly Froyo To Go™ pints. To inspire customers’ creations, Orange Leaf suggests the following “recipe” ideas:
- Pistachio Cheesecake: Pistachio and Cheesecake swirled froyo topped with Cheesecake Bites, Graham Cracker Crumbs and Chocolate Sauce
- Spumoni: Use a divider to create an Orange Leaf Spumoni with Pistachio, Vanilla and Chocolate froyo topped with Cherries and Almonds
Pistachio is in good company at Orange Leaf with other traditional and unique flavors such as Birthday Cake, Brownie Batter, Peanut Butter and Salted Caramel. Customers become the chef when creating their own froyo treats, choosing from their local store’s customer-driven selection of 16 flavors, taken from the menu of 70 plus, including no-sugar-added, gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan alternatives. These flavors are blended in proprietary machines that create a richer and creamier product than other froyo brands.
In addition to Pistachio, customers can check their store’s web page, or download Orange Leaf’s iPhone or Android app, to check the other flavors available at local stores in March before they visit.
