Big Changes for SVForum: New CEO, New Office, and New Board Members

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--SVForum, Silicon Valley's leading not-for-profit organization for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, is delighted to announce new leadership and new offices in 2014. SVForum has moved back to San Jose to new offices in the SVG Innovation Center. At the same time, Interim CEO Susan Lucas-Conwell announced the appointment of Adiba Barney as CEO and the nomination to the Board of three new Board members: Steve Goldberg of Venrock, Jeff Kuhn of FLG Partners, and Kevin Surace of Appvance. Three longtime Board members stepped down: Ann Winblad of Hummer Winblad, Peter Sonsini of NEA, and Jim Koshland of DLA Piper.

“It's been an honor to return to SVForum and solidify the foundations. With Adiba Barney at the helm, the organization will be taken to the next level,” stated Susan Lucas-Conwell. Lucas-Conwell will continue to serve on SVForum's Board of Directors.

Board chair Debra Brackeen said, "I am thrilled to have Adiba join SVForum as CEO. Her passion, intellect, leadership and new ideas are a powerful addition to our organization and community. Adiba will build on the great legacy that SVForum has built over the past 30 years and create exciting new directions for our members and partners going forward."

“I'm excited to take over as CEO,” Adiba Barney said. “SVForum has an incredible history of creating successful events, programs and conferences, educating, training, inspiring and connecting the techies, entrepreneurs, corporates, and investors in Silicon Valley, and I will do my very best to keep this great legacy from my predecessors thriving.

“My main focus now is to rejuvenate the organization, its brand and its offering to the Silicon Valley community as well as create a greater value to the members, partners and sponsors through new programs and initiatives that will give SVForum a more defined role in this ever-changing ecosystem.”

Lucas-Conwell re-joined the organization as Interim CEO in mid-2013 to manage ongoing operations and create strategic alignments during the search for a full-time CEO. Adiba Barney joins SVForum from the Silicon Vikings, where she focused on renewing the organization's value proposition in the Nordic and Silicon Valley ecosystem.
