CHRIS O’CONNOR AND LORD FREDERICK WINDSOR APPOINTED TO BRITWEEK BOARD
BritWeek, which drew the stars out last night for its Oscar Party at Hooray Henry’s and just announced its 2014 Los Angeles calendar of events, has appointed British Consul General Chris O’Connor and Lord Frederick Windsor to its board. Lord Frederick Windsor is a Vice President in the Private Bank at J.P. Morgan in Los Angeles. The only son of T. R. H. Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, he is a first cousin once removed of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the only member of the Royal Family residing in Los Angeles. He and his wife, the actress Sophie Winkleman, have lived in Los Angeles since 2009.
Chris O’Connor, a career diplomat, came to Los Angeles in August 2013 to take up his position as Consul General, the British government’s most senior representative covering five western States. He was most recently UK Ambassador to Tunisia, and has been posted in Cairo, Riyadh, Brussels, Ottawa, and Beirut. He relocated here with his wife, Martha Nelems, and two daughters.
“BritWeek is immensely privileged to have the Consul General Chris O’Connor join the board,” said BritWeek Chairman Bob Peirce. “We are also delighted to have Freddie Windsor on the board, which I like to think is our local seal of Royal approval.”
“I am looking forward to celebrating my first BritWeek in April,” said O’Connor, “and I am very pleased to be part of what is now a great Los Angeles institution, marking the positive ways in which the UK-LA connection enriches this region.”
“Like the founders of BritWeek, I came to Los Angeles and fell in love with the place,” Lord Frederick Windsor said. “So it is a great pleasure to be part of BritWeek and help celebrate the many wonderful, creative connections between Britain and the United States.”
BritWeek Los Angeles, now in its eighth year, will run from April 21st – May 4th and include an exciting line-up of events, from the star-studded Red Carpet Launch to its huge public festival on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade.
