KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--David Arroyo has been named senior vice president, legal affairs and internal audit, for Scripps Networks Interactive (NYSE:SNI).
In this role, Arroyo will implement operational and financial compliance audits to test the proper functioning of the company’s control environment. He’ll also direct the company’s adherence to policies, procedures and regulations with an eye on increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of Scripps Networks assurance systems.
Scripps Networks Interactive is a leader in developing lifestyle programming for television, the Internet and mobile platforms. The company owns and operates HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, DIY Network, Cooking Channel and Great American Country.
Arroyo is based in New York and has dual reporting lines to the company’s audit committee and to Cynthia Gibson, executive vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary.

Arroyo, who joined Scripps Networks in 2004, has had numerous roles during his tenure with the company, including supervision over the legal teams supporting litigation, intellectual property rights management, program and talent contracting, human resources, ratings and brand research, and real estate. His oversight in many of these areas will continue as he takes on these new duties.
Prior to Scripps, Arroyo practiced as a trial lawyer at a global law firm, and early in his career he clerked for a federal judge. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and Duke University. While at law school, he served as an associate and contributing editor of the Michigan Law Review.
