Device Cloud Networks Names John Carvalho as Chief Technology Officer

Wireless Industry Executive Brings 20 Years of Business Management Expertise in Mobile Communications Systems

BARCELONA, Spain--()--MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS – Device Cloud Networks (DCN), a leading machine-to-machine (M2M) enablement service provider and mobile network operator for the Internet-of-Things, today announced that it has named John Carvalho as Chief Technology Officer, effective immediately.

Mr. Carvalho will lead the technical operations as the company embarks on its next phase of growth for its leading M2M service enablement platform. A twenty-year veteran of GSM-based mobile communications systems, Mr. Carvalho has held executive management positions in every facet of the technology life cycle. His efforts will surround expanding DCN’s global connectivity and device management solutions in the M2M ecosystem of OEMs, carriers and enterprises.

Mr. Carvalho joins DCN after completing an instrumental role with Comcast in the deployment of a Wi-Fi network covering most of the northeastern U.S. Mr. Carvalho was also previously involved with the design and deployment of the first two large-scale deployments of GSM in the U.S., firstly with APC-Sprint in Washington D.C. and then with Pacific Bell Wireless in California. Further experience also stems from key positions with Telefonica O2, where he was responsible for Core Network Innovation in their European business, having oversight of four countries including the economic powerhouses of Germany and the UK. Earlier in his career, he worked in the early phases of design and specification of GSM systems with Ericsson. In this role, he was part of the global expansion of mobile communications, working in Sweden, The Netherlands, Germany and the UK, driving the systems acceptance of such notable global telecommunications players as Vodafone, Orange and Telefonica.

Mr. Carvalho earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Durham University in the UK.
