MIAMI--()--CareCloud, the leading provider of cloud-based practice management, electronic health records (EHR), and medical billing software and services, today launched its newest product, CareCloud Companion, a mobile application that lets providers access patient records, view schedules, and manage clinical tasks from their iPad, iPad mini, iPhone, or iPod touch. Unlike most mobile applications, Companion extends the power and award-winning user experience of both CareCloud’s EHR and practice management solutions to mobile platforms, granting providers a personalized CareCloud experience so they can improve productivity directly from their tablet or smartphone.

CareCloud will debut Companion at the Health Information Management Systems Society’s (HIMSS) Annual Conference & Exhibition, being held February 23-27 in Orlando, Florida, at booth #1882.

Companion’s Capabilities Allow Physicians to Manage Their Workday More Efficiently

Companion — which is optimized for iOS 7, Apple’s newest mobile operating system — lets providers securely log onto the CareCloud platform from any location, making access to practice and patient information easy. The initial release of Companion was designed according to how doctors actually think and work – simple but elegantly designed screens, logical workflows, and an intuitive user interface that makes Companion a mobile application doctors can use to deliver care and better manage their practices.

With Companion, providers can view their personal schedules, appointment summaries, and patient summaries including medications, problems, allergies, vitals, labs, immunizations, and other data. Additionally, providers can access clinical documents like x-rays and encounter notes while also being able to sign incoming lab results, approve medication refill requests and take clinical images with the iPad and iPhone camera. In the coming months, Companion will feature even more enhanced charting capabilities.

“The launch of Companion is truly the next step in the evolution of CareCloud’s growing product portfolio. Providers increasingly expect a mobile-first mentality in the tools that they use on a daily basis, which enables them to become more efficient while delivering better care,” said Albert Santalo, CareCloud CEO and Chairman. “Furthermore, they want the power of an entire suite to be optimized for mobile, not just an EHR. So, providers using Companion can easily access patient charts and daily schedules today whenever they need them, but in the future these capabilities will be married with ones that also allow them to manage the business of their practices. Companion therefore underscores CareCloud’s vision to be the single log-in for healthcare and help physicians provide the best care possible – anytime, anywhere.”

While many vendors repurpose their EHRs or clinical applications for mobile devices, CareCloud built Companion specifically for the iPad, iPad mini, iPhone and iPod touch. Companion was explicitly designed for the most popular mobile form factor used by providers today to ensure they have the fastest and most user-friendly solutions for their practices.

“I am excited about the release of CareCloud Companion, especially as my practice becomes more mobile," said Dr. Kevin Brown, an Internist at Ideal Medical based in Reno, Nevada. "Companion gives me the ability to check into my practice everyday from any location. By giving me immediate access to the patient chart, I can now respond more quickly to my patients - in the office or out-of-the office - whenever they need me. CareCloud Companion definitely makes my practice more productive.”
