MRV Shares Expertise and Company Vision at Leading Industry Events

Company executives provide insight on 100G, optical transport, cloud, SDN and data center virtualization at global events in February and March

MPLS & Ethernet World Congress 2014
OFC 2014

CHATSWORTH, Calif.--()--MRV Communications™, Inc. (OTCQB: MRVC) (“MRV®”), a leading provider of innovative packet and optical solutions, today announced it will participate in several upcoming industry events to discuss trends in high-capacity 100G, cloud and data center connectivity, software-defined networking (SDN) and virtualization. The company will also showcase its new arsenal of OptiDriver™ optical transport solutions. For more than 25 years, MRV has empowered the optical edge through its intelligent solutions. Experts from the company will leverage this experience to participate in key industry discussions that will contribute to the evolution of networking technologies, standards and capabilities.

“Our industry is undergoing revolutionary changes in network architectures empowering cloud, mobility and network convergence. MRV is unique in that it brings over two decades of experience in packet and optical networking technologies, and remains actively involved in shaping the direction of this market’s future,” said Zeev Draer, vice president of strategic marketing for MRV. “Over the next few weeks, we will share information about our optical edge solutions for layer convergence and service orchestration, as well as insights we’ve gained from our trusted relationships with service providers, data center operators and cloud service providers from around the globe. We look forward to the new market developments these conversations might inspire with considerable excitement.”

On February 19, MRV will present an insightful Infonetics Research Webinar titled, “100G in the Metro: When and Where It Will Be Economical.” Scott Wilkinson, MRV’s senior director of technical marketing, joins a select panel of speakers for the interactive event. The discussion will explore the economics of 100G technology deployments in metro networks, where space limitations require smaller, lower-power solutions.

“Service providers, MSOs, CLECs and content providers will listen in as MRV, JDSU and Transmode share their expertise about new approaches to cost-effectively deploy 100G in the metro,” said Andrew Schmitt, principal analyst at Infonetics Research. “During the webinar, panelists will discuss new technologies that feature better density and higher speeds and make metro 100G more viable. The event’s speakers will share valuable knowledge gained from years of experience in the industry, and is an event that shouldn’t be missed.”

MRV will demonstrate the advanced capabilities of such technologies in March 2014, as it presents its new OptiDriver™ portfolio of optical transport network elements at OFC 2014—the world’s leading event for advancing optical solutions. The event, held March 9-13 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, features leading companies in fiber optic technology and cutting-edge ideas that are revolutionizing the network. Attendees can visit MRV at booth 4545 in the OFC Expo Hall March 11-13 to learn about advanced optical networking approaches that reduce OPEX and create a more intelligent network.

Also in March, MRV’s director of technologies, Edna Ganon, will be presenting the “SDN Impact on Internet Exchanges” session at the Euro-IX Forum in Leeds, England. On March 17, Ganon will explore SDN’s ability to accelerate innovation and improve the operation of internet exchange points for the optical infrastructure of today’s new network paradigm.

In addition to its lineup of optical-focused events, MRV will also present several discussions at the upcoming Metro Ethernet Forum’s (MEF) Nordics Carrier Ethernet Seminar and the MPLS SDN World Congress. These industry-leading events take a deep dive into the latest networking trends, specifications, case studies and next-generation services evolution. MRV’s speaking engagements include:

  • On February 19 at the MEF Seminar in Stockholm, MRV’s Zeev Draer will deliver the conference’s afternoon session titled, “Carrier Ethernet, SDN and Cloud.” During the session, Draer will articulate MEF realities that leverage SDN and cloud, as well as explore existing and upcoming dynamic Ethernet service extensions to support this infrastructure, its management and processes.
  • At the MPLS SDN World Congress in Paris, Draer will participate in the event’s MEF Workshop “Carrier Ethernet Panel Discussion” on March 18 alongside speakers from the MEF, Telia Sonera and more. He will also join thought-leaders from Google, Deutsche Telekom and the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) for a panel discussion on March 19 titled, “Data Center Virtualization Convergence and NFV Network Requirements,” as he shares MRV’s vision on data center virtualization convergence.
