PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Just as the company completes the cleanup from yesterday’s winter storm, PECO is making preparations for round two of this week’s weather - forecasted mixed precipitation expected overnight and into tomorrow.
PECO’s emergency response center remains open and crews continue to work around the clock to restore service as safely and quickly as possible and to prepare for the incoming weather. In addition, the company has enhanced staffing in place in its call center, dispatch centers, and in the field to respond to customer needs.
The company’s greatest concern is with any sustained period of freezing rain or ice, which can stick to surfaces like roadways, tree limbs and aerial power lines. If freezing rain lasts for several hours, an accumulation could coat already snow covered tree branches bringing them down into power lines, causing service interruptions.
PECO urges customers to stay safe and always stay away from any storm damaged electrical equipment, especially downed power lines and tree limbs that may come into contact with power lines. Always consider that downed electrical wires are energized and report them to the company immediately. Customers should check on their neighbors, family and friends and assist the elderly and those with special needs.
Customers should report electric service interruptions and natural gas issues by calling 1-800-841-4141. Customers also can report or view the status of an electric outage at www.peco.com or by using PECO Smart Mobile On-the-Go, the company’s mobile enhanced website.
