CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For California major metro regions, 4th quarter 2103 BidClerk data showed a year-over-year increase of 11.8% for new actively bidding construction projects. Among those projects, private projects increased 15.9% in the 4th quarter 2013, in a year-over-year comparison, while public projects increased 10.5% in the 4th quarter of 2013. Total contract values in the California regions surveyed topped out at $10.5 billion in the 4th quarter of 2013. Overall, in 2013 BidClerk reported on more than 10,000 actively bidding opportunities in California, totaling over $37.3 billion for 2013. Total 4th quarter contract value was $5.0 billion for Los Angeles and $2.4 billion for San Francisco. Year-over-year contract values were down (-26.9%) for Los Angeles and up 14.5% for San Francisco.
For the city of Los Angeles, 4th quarter 2013 BidClerk data showed a year-over-year increase of 13.8% for new actively bidding construction projects, compared to a 17.2% increase in activity for the same period last year. Private projects increased 22% in the 4th quarter in a year-over-year comparison. Public projects increased 10.7% in the 4th quarter 2013. BidClerk reported on more than 4,000 projects totaling $18 billion in total contract value.
