The New VarietyLatino.com Digital Publication Launches February 27, 2014

MIAMI--()--Univision Communications, Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, and Variety Media LLC, a subsidiary of Penske Media Corporation and the world’s premier provider of entertainment news, today announced a new partnership to launch a groundbreaking entertainment news brand, “Variety Latino – Powered by Univision,” aimed at providing Spanish speakers across the U.S. with unparalleled coverage of all aspects of the global entertainment industry.

The two media giants have joined forces to produce and distribute original Spanish-language multiplatform content focused on entertainment news. Leveraging Variety’s unequaled access to inside information on the world of entertainment and Univision’s unique understanding of the Hispanic consumer, the content will be available through an exclusive “Variety Latino – Powered by Univision” digital publication, VarietyLatino.com, slated to launch on February 27, as well as across Univision’s digital platforms, television networks, and local stations. Addressing two of Latinos’ hottest passion points – show business and celebrities– the multiplatform co-branded offering expands Univision’s 360º strategy of providing the Univision experience everywhere its audience is. Currently, Univision and Variety Media collaborate on a multiplatform entertainment segment for the Univision television network’s top-rated newsmagazine “Primer Impacto.”

“I am proud that Variety, an iconic brand in entertainment, is partnering with the most powerful voice for Hispanic content in America to deliver in-depth coverage and access to the biggest stories in the world of entertainment, all day on every device,” said Michelle Sobrino, publisher of Variety. “And as the first Hispanic Publisher of Variety, I am gratified to be part of an organization that continues to break ground in its coverage of the industry.”

“This partnership brings together two trusted brands,” said Isaac Lee, president of News for Univision Communications Inc. and CEO of Fusion. “No one knows show business better than Variety, and no other media company can even come close to Univision’s undisputed ability to connect with and engage Hispanic audiences. We couldn’t be more excited about the new ‘Variety Latino – Powered by Univision’ brand, which will bring millions of Spanish speakers the most comprehensive entertainment content available anywhere.”

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Univision on the creation of Variety Latino,” said Jay Penske, founder and CEO of PMC, the owner of Variety. “The ‘Variety Latino – Powered by Univision’ brand signals the opportunity of bringing multiplatform entertainment news to the fastest growing digital demographic of entertainment enthusiasts in the United States. And PMC couldn’t be more honored to do so with America’s leading Hispanic media company.”

Univision and Variety have hired a dedicated team to lead the industry on Spanish-language entertainment news at VarietyLatino.com. This pioneering entertainment and media alliance is set to launch in time for the 2014 Oscars and will offer the most comprehensive coverage of the event in Spanish, leveraging Variety’s access and Univision’s platforms.
