PLAYA DEL RAY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Monica J. McCorkle, MS, RDN, CDE, corporate dietitian and diabetes educator for Healthstat, Inc., has been named recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Service Award from the California Dietetic Association (CDA). Healthstat is the country’s most innovative on-site health and wellness provider and operates more than 300 clinics nationwide.
McCorkle received the award for outstanding professional performance, significant contributions to CDA, and mentorship to nutrition professionals and students. She has been a Registered Dietitian for 26 years. At Healthstat, McCorkle is responsible for developing the company’s wellness protocols in weight management, diabetes, diabetes prevention, and nutrition programs.
She is presently the Delegate for Area 4 representing the San Diego Dietetic Association (SDDA) and the Orange District Dietetic Association to the Academy. She has also served as SDDA president for two terms, and CDA VP of Member Council for three years.
Previous career highlights includes 15 years organizing a group of dietitians and nutritionists to work within the Native American communities of San Diego County, which is still in effect. As an undergraduate student at San Diego State University she was the first student nutrition representative to the SDDA. She, along with her classmates, formed the Food and Nutrition Student Organization (FNSO), which is now called Student Nutrition Organization (SNO).
The 2014 Distinguished Service Award will be presented to McCorkle at the CDA Annual Conference in Pomona, Calif. on April 3.
