CINCINNATI--()--CBTS, a leading technology solutions provider, today announced the operation of its Advanced Cyber Security division’s new Threat Intelligence Center in Cincinnati. The center is staffed with experts experienced in the military, financial, manufacturing and defense industries and is dedicated to monitoring and protecting the data of CBTS business customers.

“Our center was modeled after the best practice systems and processes used by major defense contractors,” said Brian Minick, vice president of CBTS Advanced Cyber Security. “We help our customers not only detect attacks but also learn from them to prevent future attacks to their data and systems.” Minick calls this process Intelligent Analysis and Adaptive Defense, which is the cornerstone of the Advanced Cyber Security product suite.

The CBTS Advanced Cyber Security team’s framework allows it to adapt in response to the rapidly changing nature of cyber attacks. The threat is no longer a blind program that happens to find a weak spot but very intelligent and well-financed attackers who have a specific target in mind. Attackers like these can patiently probe defenses for a flaw and exploit that flaw to great advantage. As the attacks mutate to account for security changes, so must the defenses.

“The process is simple: we detect an attack, tear it apart, learn from it and then build that learning back into the defenses to take the possibility of reusing tools or tactics off the table for the attacker,” Minick said. “This approach enables our team to forge custom defenses to address the specific threats that each of our customers face and allows us to use the attackers’ tools against them.”

In conjunction with the opening of the Threat Intelligence Center, the Advanced Cyber Security Product Team launched its new E-mail Security tool, which will help defend customer data and provide a rich source of information to further enhance customers’ data security.

Over 90 percent of attacks are initiated through e-mail phishing, a process in which a seemingly harmless e-mail can inject a hacker’s bad code into a computer network. The e-mail security tool is the first offering in CBTS’s overall Advanced Cyber Security Suite.
