NEW YORK--()--It all began with one man selling tables, wooden hat racks etc. – everything that folds. It was a sale of foldable banquet tables to Waldorf Astoria that became the blueprint of HOWE. Designing durable and functional furniture, Harald Howe laid the foundation for a strong, international, architect-led brand that would become well-known in both the US and Europe throughout the 20th century and till today.

HOWE’s headquarters of today is in Denmark, Europe and the HOWE brand is synonymous with functionality, durability and simple aesthetics. HOWE is now re-launching in the US with the goal of establishing the well-known European A&D brand in the American market.

For more than 80 years, HOWE has been one of the pioneers in the design and development of innovative, multifunctional and space saving furniture for the contract market. In close cooperation with architects and professional interior designers, HOWE constantly strives to optimize space and enhance architecture all over the world.

This includes the benchmark product, the 40/4 chair by David Rowland, for which HOWE acquired the IP rights in the North American market in June 2013. The first true stacking chair, the 40/4 has been in production ever since 1964 and it has sold over 8 mio. copies worldwide, including to iconic venues such as St. Paul’s Cathedral in London and Louvre in Paris. When launched, the 40/4 set standards in the industry that are still adhered to, and has an elegance, precision and purpose that have seldom been matched.

“HOWE is a successful company in a rapid development. We see an enormous potential in the US market. We expect to double our turnover within the next 3 years and here the North American market is a key factor to success,” says President, CEO Michael Jacobsen.

HOWE furniture has a proven track record and lasts for decades – tables and chairs are delivered with up to 10 year full guarantee. HOWE is sustainable and has its own green concept, Green Thinking, which guides the corporation as well as the furniture production and its impact on the environment.
