Mr. Somerville will continue to serve clients in Hemenway & Barnes’ Private Client Group, and as a professional fiduciary. As a lawyer and trustee, Kurt has for over 30 years advised high net worth clients on a variety of issues and concerns related to preserving, enhancing, and transferring family wealth.

Mr. Somerville is a key player in the trust and estates arena, serving as co-Trustee of Jane's Trust, a leading charitable trust in New England, and other charitable trusts, foundations, and private family trust complexes. Among other community endeavors, he is a Founder and Trustee of Community Rowing, Inc. (CRI), the country's largest public access rowing program, and was a former Olympic and national team oarsman.
Mr. Somerville succeeds Stephen Kidder as Managing Partner, who held the position from 2006 – 2013. Mr. Kidder remains a partner at Hemenway & Barnes, and President and Managing Director of Hemenway Trust Company.
