NEW YORK--()--Reflecting a shared commitment to patient education and quality outcomes, CheckedUp announced today that Jerry St. Peter, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Nicox (NICFX), will join the mobile health startup’s Strategic Advisory Board.

Mr. St. Peter will play a key role as CheckedUp advances toward the implementation of its mobile health app in ophthalmic practices nationwide. He joins other healthcare and business leaders on the Strategic Advisory Board, including Brent Saunders, CEO of Forest Laboratories; Casey McGlynn, Partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati; the Honorable Robert Keith Gray, Chairman and Founder of Gray and Company; and Vince Anido, CEO of Aerie Pharmaceuticals. CheckedUp’s Medical Advisory Board, which reviews the company’s patient-education materials, includes notable ophthalmic surgeons such as Eric Donnenfeld, M.D., President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and Richard Lindstrom, M.D., former President of ASCRS.

"We are honored to have Jerry join our Strategic Board,” said Richard Awdeh, M.D., CEO of CheckedUp. “I have no doubt that his insight into the industry will prove to be invaluable as CheckedUp aims to revolutionize the industry-doctor, industry-patient and patient-doctor relationships. Our platform is about empowering patients and creating transparency within the industry; there is no man better to advise us in achieving these goals than Jerry.”

Mr. St. Peter has been in the pharmaceutical industry for over 23 years and has worked in executive level positions at companies such as Inspire Pharmaceuticals (an ophthalmology-focused company acquired by Merck & Co. in 2011) and Muro Pharmaceutical. His product launches include those for Elestat®, AzaSite®, Restasis®, Optivar®, and Alrex®.

“The mobile health platform that CheckedUp has developed will better patient outcomes and strengthen the doctor-patient relationship – two critical elements in improving our healthcare system,” said St. Peter. “I look forward to joining the Advisory Board during this exciting time of implementation, particularly since the preliminary results of the company’s clinical trial indicate great success.”

In 2014, CheckedUp will continue implementing its Explorers Program, the launch of the platform into the nation’s highest volume clinics. “We are looking forward to building upon the foundation of best practices and efficiencies already reflected in the platform during this stage of implementation,” said Dr. Awdeh.

Moving forward, CheckedUp will be committed to engaging with leading industry partners to ensure the platform offers broad value for doctors, patients, and pharmaceutical companies. “When innovation meets and serves a core need in the ever-changing healthcare landscape – everyone benefits,” says St. Peter.
