OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ben C. Gerwick, Inc. (Gerwick), an industry-leading civil and marine structures consulting firm based in Oakland, CA is pleased to announce the appointment of Winston Stewart, P.E., as its new President and Managing Director effective January 6, 2014.
Dedicated to excellence in marine and civil engineering, Winston brings over 35 years of experience in the civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering field to the company, most recently working as Principal Civil-Geotechnical Engineer at URS Corporation. Most recently Winston was the Project Construction Manager for the URS Team on the $130M Columbus Upground Reservoir Projects leading a group of 35 engineers. The complex project comprised a 9.5B gallon reservoir with a 5 mile perimeter, a 5 mile 6ft diameter pipeline and pump station. The uniqueness of the reservoir was that it has a composite liner system to mitigate against potential loss of water through sinkhole activities. Winston is also one of the few Engineers of Record under the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Dam Safety Program.
“Gerwick is the go-to firm for marine engineering for governments, agencies and contractors that require expert problem solving, efficient solutions and leading-edge engineering to win jobs” noted Stewart. “Gerwick has demonstrated this again and again as witnessed by its repeat customer base and standing in the engineering community. As a leader in the company, I look forward to contributing to Gerwick’s continued growth.”
Winston has also previously worked as Chief Operating Officer of Multi-Energy Group, LLC and as Georgia Regional Engineer for QORE Property Sciences (now SM&E).
We are extremely pleased that Winston will be contributing to the vision and direction of Gerwick at a time of growth for the company and marine engineering services,” said Steven G. Hunt, President of COWI North America. “Winston has broad management experience with dynamic U.S. market and State-based infrastructure insight, and he will be a valuable addition as we expand Gerwick’s reach to new domestic and international markets.”
