H+K Strategies Names Craig Alperowitz US Marcomms Practice Leader

Appointment signals even greater integration of marcomms and digital and emphasis on storytelling

NEW YORK--()--Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K) announced today the appointment of Craig Alperowitz, a proven marketing communications leader and entertainment veteran with more than 20 years in the industry, to lead the firm’s US Marcomms Practice. His first day with the firm will be Jan. 6.

“I’m serious about providing our clients the best counsel, strategies and creative thinking in the business, and Craig’s appointment reflects that,” said Andy Weitz, U.S. president and CEO of Hill+Knowlton Strategies. “Craig’s deep experience and proven leadership across the marketing, entertainment and digital spaces, coupled with an infectious passion for marketing, will breathe new energy into our already successful and growing Marcomms offering.”

Over the course of more than two decades, Alperowitz has served as strategic advisor across the marketing mix, encompassing public relations, social and digital media, influencer marketing and analytics, for top brands like Procter & Gamble, The Hershey Company, Best Buy, Warner Bros. Home Video, General Mills and Nestlé. Most recently he led the consumer team at W2O Group, responsible for building and growing a portfolio of B2C clients across WCG and Twist Mktg.

“The H+K leadership team has a very clear vision for this practice within the U.S. and globally — a vision I fully believe in and share,” Alperowitz said. “I’m incredibly impressed with the caliber of talent on board and leadership's commitment to data analysis and digital/social programming to compete in a modern communications landscape. The foundation is well in place already. I look forward to continuing the momentum that is attracting the best brands in the world to work with H+K.”

Alperowitz takes the helm of the practice from Gary Goldhammer, chief U.S. digital strategist for H+K who had also been leading the U.S. Marcomms Practice on an interim basis. The two will work closely together as the firm further integrates its Marcomms and Digital Practice offerings and puts a greater emphasis on storytelling.

“Craig understands, as we all do, that digital sits at the core of marketing communications — it’s how ideas and stories spread and how consumers engage,” Goldhammer said. “This ‘blending’ of practice expertise will provide greater opportunity for our clients as we develop campaigns that deliver across paid, earned, shared and owned media channels.”
