OriginOil to Launch Its Permanent Technology Showcase at Model Fish Farm near Salton Sea

State Assemblymember V. Manuel Perez, Coachella Mayor Eduardo Garcia and general manager of the Imperial Irrigation District Kevin Kelley, to speak on sustainable solutions for the region’s aquaculture industry

LOS ANGELES & THERMAL, Calif.--()--OriginOil Inc. (OTCBB:OOIL), the developer of Electro Water Separation™ (EWS), the high-speed, chemical-free process to clean up large quantities of water, will inaugurate its Permanent Technology Showcase at model sustainable fish farm Aqua Farming Tech in Thermal, Calif. on Dec. 18.

For the first time, OriginOil will publicly demonstrate its field-scale systems to remove ammonia and disinfect fish ponds in a single step, and to harvest algae efficiently for healthy and economical fish feed. Persons interested in attending should fill out the short form here: www.originoil.com/showcase.

The ribbon-cutting will feature remarks by state Assemblymember V. Manuel Perez; Mayor Eduardo Garcia of Coachella, California; Kevin Kelley, general manager of the Imperial Irrigation District; and Dr. Thomas Ulrich, previously a principal scientist at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and now an OriginOil advisor. OriginOil CEO, Riggs Eckelberry, will introduce the technical team headed by co-founder and inventor, Nicholas Eckelberry.

Immediately following the speakers’ remarks, OriginOil will demonstrate the ability of its technology to clean up ammonia-laden pond water, and harvest algae for economical and nutritious fish feed. Refreshments will be served, and algae products will be on display.

"Fish farming is a hundred billion dollar industry; and more fish is now being farmed than beef in the world,” said Perez, who represents California’s 56th District. “But too often, fish is poorly fed and farmed in toxic conditions. The Coachella Valley can lead the world in clean, nutritious and sustainable fish farming, and I am looking forward to seeing firsthand how this can be accomplished.”

“As mayor of this community, I am deeply interested in anything that can help us rebuild a local fish farming industry that has suffered from the high cost of energy and feed,” said Eduardo Garcia, Mayor of Coachella. “I look forward to seeing what breakthrough technology can accomplish.”

Many fish farms in the Coachella Valley have closed in recent years due to high energy and feed costs. As a result, aquaculture facilities such as Aqua Farming Tech are pioneering ways to improve energy efficiency and nutritional quality, while at the same time reducing costs dramatically.

The showcase will start at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Aqua Farming Tech, located at 89635 Avenue 81 in Thermal, Calif. The technology demonstration will highlight the ability of OriginOil’s EWS technology to reduce ammonia levels and kill aquatic pathogens, as well as to harvest algae rapidly and with excellent shelf life.
