A Smart Grid Summit advisory board made up of utility executives, industry analysts, association representatives, and executives from technology companies voted for the winners. The Smart Grid Visionary Award is given to an innovative electric cooperative that has deployed at least one smart grid project and plans to further develop the technology during the next three to five years.
OEC is a 58,000-member electrical distribution cooperative located in Owenton, Ky. OEC is committed to offering its members all of the information that can be found, offered and analyzed from the smart grid.

Associated with this program was a Smart Home project focused on positively managing OEC members’ daily electrical usage.
