ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) announced that at its annual meeting today, NIRI members elected four new directors: David C. Calusdian, Executive Vice President and Partner, Sharon Merrill Associates; Valerie C. Haertel, Senior Vice President, Investor Relations, State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT); Angeline (Angie) C. McCabe, Vice President, Investor Relations, Health Net, Inc. (NYSE: HNT); and Nils Paellmann, PhD, Vice President IR and Head of Investor Relations, T-Mobile US (NYSE: TMUS). NIRI board members serve four year terms.

New Board Members
David Calusdian is executive vice president and partner of Sharon Merrill Associates, an investor relations strategic advisory firm based in Boston. He combines broad experience in investor relations, public affairs and media relations with a passion for quality service in providing Sharon Merrill Associates clients with ongoing strategic counsel as well as direct support on projects such as investor perception studies, corporate presentations, investor roadshows and analyst days. Calusdian also has significant experience in providing executive presentation coaching. Prior to joining Sharon Merrill Associates in 1995, he implemented communications programs as an account executive for Jack Walsh & Associates, a public affairs consulting firm. For nearly 10 years, Calusdian served as an adjunct instructor of investor relations, public relations and public speaking at Emerson College, where for part of that time he also directed the school's media relations efforts. He has delivered speeches and participated on investor relations panel discussions at conferences sponsored by NIRI, the NYSE, NASDAQ, Public Relations Society of America, and other professional development organizations. He is a past-president of NIRI's Boston chapter and holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in communications from Emerson College.
Valerie Haertel is Senior Vice President of Investor Relations at State Street Corporation in Boston. She is responsible for the global investor relations program, managing relationships with the company’s shareholders and analysts, since June of 2012. Prior to this, Haertel served as Vice President of Investor Relations for Medco Health Solutions since 2006; Vice President and Director of Investor Relations at AllianceBernstein for five years; Senior Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications at telecommunication services provider, RCN Corporation; Director of Nasdaq Company Services and Chief Retention Officer for The Nasdaq Stock market; Vice President of Corporate Analysis/Investor Relations at Georgeson & Company; and Research Associate at Prudential Securities. She was named Best Investor Relations Officer by Institutional Investor magazine in 2009 and 2010 for the Healthcare Services and Distribution industry. Under her leadership, Medco was named as having the Top Corporate IR Management Program in 2009 for Healthcare Equipment and Services by Greenwich Associates, ranking No. 16 for all industries combined. Haertel has been a NIRI member since 1995, and serves on the NIRI-Boston chapter Board. She is a member of the NIRI Senior Roundtable. Haertel was Chapter President of NIRI-NY in 2004-2005, and served on the NIRI-NY chapter board for six years. She is also a member of the Investor Relations Association. Haertel graduated from St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Master of Business Administration.
Angie McCabe is vice president of Investor Relations for Health Net, Inc. She has more than 22 years of investor relations, corporate communications and management experience. Ms. McCabe joined Health Net in November 2006. Prior to Health Net, Ms. McCabe held senior investor relations and corporate communications positions at Valeant Pharmaceuticals and WellPoint, Inc. Ms. McCabe also has served in a variety of investor relations positions at Countrywide Credit Industries, Inc., Applied Materials, Inc., and Lockheed Martin Corporation. Ms. McCabe is a member of both the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) and NIRI’s Senior Roundtable. She was a co-chair for NIRI’s 2013 Annual Conference. Ms. McCabe received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Nils Paellmann, based in New York, is the Vice President IR and Head of Investor Relations of T-Mobile US (NYSE: TMUS) since April 2013. Previously, he was Vice President, Investor Relations of Deutsche Telekom (Bloomberg: DTE GY, DTEGY US). Paellmann led the New York investor relations office of Deutsche Telekom since its inception in 1998. Prior to this, Paellmann worked for four-and-a-half years in corporate finance at E.ON AG in Duesseldorf, Germany. Paellmann served as President of the NIRI New York chapter in 2008 and 2009 and as a chapter Board member since 2006. He is also a member of the NIRI Senior Roundtable. Paellmann is also affiliated with DIRK, the German investor relations association. He has an MBA specialized in Finance and Marketing Research from Indiana University of Pennsylvania Graduate School, and a PhD in Finance from the Stern School of Business of New York University.
