Seattle Interactive Conference Set for October 28-30, Exploring Transparency Through Digital, Design and Develop Programming Tracks

SEATTLE--()--Organizers of the third-annual Seattle Interactive Conference (www.seattleinteractive.com) today announced that SIC 2013 will be held October 28-30, featuring a powerful combination of presentations and panel discussions, structured networking events, master class sessions, a company exhibition Hub and an after-hours Skybridge Party. Dedicated to the theme of “Transparency,” the three-day event is set for The Conference Center of the Washington State Convention Center.

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn will kick-off the conference with opening remarks on Monday morning, October 28 at 9:00 a.m., followed by a diverse roster of speakers and panelists representing many of the world’s most significant technology companies, along with visionary scientists, academic leaders, and daring inventors and entrepreneurs. Additionally, Microsoft, AT&T, and SIC have teamed-up for a pre-conference Hack-a-thon, detailed further in this release.

Selected speakers include:

  • The Huffington Post Founding Editor Roy Sekoff, who is also president and co-creator of HuffPostLive;
  • Matt Harding, who gained international notoriety by dancing poorly in more than 100 nations, becoming a YouTube sensation in the "Where the Hell is Matt" dancing videos and who is now appearing on Visa TV commercials;
  • Digital advertising and media luminary Jeff Lanctot, who most recently served as Chief Media Officer for Razorfish. He received Advertising Age's "Media Maven" Award, MEDIAWEEK's "Media All-Star" award, B2B Magazine's "Best & Brightest Media Strategist" award, and has twice been named one of Media Magazine's "50 Most Influential People in Online Advertising."
  • AOL Digital Prophet David Shing, who shares insights with audiences worldwide, discussing the latest trends and the future of the Web and on the evolving digital landscape;
  • Jen Panasik, a Portfolio Lead and Interaction Designer at IDEO, a global design and innovation firm recently profiled by 60 Minutes. Jen contributes to projects that span across digital interactions, experience design and branded environments with a particular passion for the future of media and entertainment.
  • James Whittaker, who returned to Microsoft from Google and now spends his time re-imagining the Web and building the platforms for developers to create the future.
  • Pablos Holman, a futurist, inventor, and notorious hacker with a unique view into breaking and building new technologies, currently working for Nathan Myhrvold at the Intellectual Ventures Laboratory where a wide variety of futuristic invention projects are underway.

In all, more than 100 speakers and panelists will be part of SIC 2013 programming tracks, focused on “Digital,” “Design,” and “Develop,” all under the Transparency umbrella. Dedicated areas of focus are slated to range from online commerce and social media to Big Data, interactive advertising, responsive design, and more. Some key new additions to SIC 2013 include:

  • Microsoft-sponsored Hack-a-thon: SIC and AT&T have partnered with Microsoft to create a unique Hackathon event on the weekend of October 26-27 at the Hub Seattle in Pioneer Square, immediately prior to SIC. This very special Mobile App Hackathon, focused on wearables (yes, things one can wear, anywhere on the body), is an event produced by the AT&T Developer Program and SIC, designed for attendees (technical & non-technical) to build mobile apps to explore the wearables landscape & industry. Five finalists from the weekend will then present their concepts at the Seattle Interactive Conference on Tuesday afternoon, on-stage and in front of SIC’s hand-selected industry judges.
  • The Idea Idea: A two-part workshop culminating in a real-time social experiment to create the first open collaboration platform for shared idea exchange, the Idea Idea will explore the powerful possibilities that the social collaboration movement is revealing. Social collaboration is poised to transform the landscape of business, social good and community-- and is only accelerating.
  • After-hours Skybridge Party: Set for Tuesday, October 29th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. and open to all SIC attendees, this event will combine socializing with some on-site surprises and awards.
  • Structured networking events: These are designated time segments during which all SIC attendees will have time between sessions to interact with one another;
  • A bar and refreshment area: Set in the exhibition Hub, this will complement interactive installations from participating sponsor companies;
  • Master Class Sessions: Industry experts provide direct instruction and hands-on learning opportunities to SIC attendees for these segments.
