LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Denise Likar, an 11-year employee of Independence at Home (IAH) and most recently the company’s director of programs, has been promoted to vice president, effective immediately. Independence at Home is the home and community-based services division of SCAN Health Plan, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans.
Independence at Home provides seniors and disabled adults with easy access to community-based services that enable them to remain healthy and independent at home. Care management is provided by experienced social workers, nurses and therapists that direct the provision of necessary services for qualified seniors and disabled adults.
In her new role, Likar will continue to oversee IAH programs currently under her leadership including the largest Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) in California, Family Caregiver Support Program, Los Angeles County’s Linkages Program, Supportive Services Program, California Community Transitions (nursing home repatriation), Innerlinks Advantage (mental health), and Volunteer Action for Aging. For all of those programs, Likar is responsible for business planning; contract compliance; financial management; new program development; and regulatory audit management, staffing and quality assurance.
“I am anxious to play an increasing role in helping to chart SCAN’s contributions and presence in the many communities it serves,” says Likar. “And I look forward to continuing to support the outstanding management team and staff at Independence at Home as we strive to provide quality care management and supportive services during extremely challenging legislative and fiscal times.”
Likar joined IAH in 2002 as an MSSP care planner and during the past decade has also held the position of MSSP supervisor and MSSP site director/director of government programs. She has also monitored – and in her new role will continue to monitor – California legislative activities, providing education, advocacy and testimony.
Likar holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Loyola Marymount University. In addition, she recently concluded four years as president of the MSSP Site Association where she provided leadership and coordination of legislative and policy efforts.
For 35 years SCAN Health Plan has been focusing exclusively on the unique needs of seniors and others on Medicare. The company currently has nearly 150,000 members in California and Arizona. Further information may be obtained at scanhealthplan.com or on Facebook at facebook.com/scanhealthplan.
