NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Peter J. Solomon Company (PJSC), a leading private investment banking firm, announced today that Managing Director Marc S. Cooper has been promoted to Vice Chairman. Managing Directors Cathy Leonhardt and David A. Shiffman will now lead PJSC’s Global Retail Practice.

In his new role, Mr. Cooper, who joined the firm in 1999, and served as head of its Global Retail Practice, will now assume the additional responsibility of sourcing and executing transactions across the firm’s various industry verticals and product offerings. In his distinguished career, Mr. Cooper has represented a long roster of high-profile retail and branded companies, completing strategic advisory assignments in mergers and acquisitions and across the capital markets spectrum.

Cathy Leonhardt joined PJSC ten years ago from Morgan Stanley, where she was a Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions department. Known for her strategic advisory experience in the retail, apparel and e-commerce sectors, Ms. Leonhardt has advised some of PJSC’s most important clients on M&A transactions, financings and restructurings.
David A. Shiffman, a former head of retail investment banking at Goldman Sachs, joined PJSC as a Managing Director last year. In his twenty year career advising notable branded companies in the retail, consumer and business services spaces, Mr. Shiffman has gained a reputation, in addition to his mergers and acquisitions expertise, for his ability to assist clients in need of strategic positioning and capital markets solutions; these include buy and sell-side assignments, private financings and restructurings.
