CES Group Acquires sEnergy Thermal Software

New DCIM Software Will Help Data Center Operators Achieve High Energy Efficiency and Reduced Total Cost of Ownership

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.--()--CES Group, LLC a leader and manufacturer of innovative custom and engineered solutions (CES) for heating, ventilating and cooling, today announced the recent asset acquisition of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software provider, sEnergy Thermal. The acquisition complements the objective of CES and its new Data Center Products Group to help data center operators achieve high energy efficiency and reduced cost-of-ownership.

Through the acquisition, the Data Center Products Group plans to leverage sEnergy EMS, an advanced energy-centric platform that increases data center energy efficiency, asset utilization and uptime. sEnergy EMS offers the tools to integrate active monitoring of white space and rack-level temperature and airflow into the controls of mechanical cooling equipment, either using third-party building management systems or on a standalone basis, to optimize cooling operation.

“sEnergy Thermal software provides high-fidelity, best-in-class thermal monitoring and analysis using a 3D virtual view that enables data center operators to easily walk through facilities in real time,” said Kris Holla, Chief Sales Officer and Vice President, Data Center Products for Nortek, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTK), CES Group’s parent company. “This real-time capability gives the complete picture, enabling data center operators to make immediate decisions to optimize energy use without sacrificing reliability. Our software solutions will be used by our customers to gain the highest level of visibility on cooling related energy expenditures in their data centers.”

The Data Center Product Group’s solutions and services provide quick return on investment by substantially reducing data-center energy consumption and increasing cooling capacity in both new and renovated or expanded data center facilities. The sEnergy EMS platform features the unique ActiveCFD™ module — with capabilities for real-time and continuous monitoring of white space, rack level temperatures and airflow — for critical facilities in a platform that performs sophisticated what-if analysis for evaluating future changes to data center infrastructure.

Additionally, ActiveCFD, with a host of capabilities such as dynamic zoning and continuous commissioning, will intelligently model the cooling performance to the prevailing heat dissipation. ActiveCFD also enhances traditional reactive control with predictive control that previews eventual steady-state conditions — enabling the cooling system to react faster to the environment and smartly respond to unexpected events.

“We are very excited to have our brand become a member of the CES Group family,” said sEnergy Thermal founder Dr. Izuh Obinelo. “We now have additional resources we need to enhance the user experience and continue to maintain the best-in-class features offered by sEnergy EMS.”
