GEYSERVILLE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Geyser Peak, one of California’s most storied wineries, is enjoying a significant evolution and revitalization under the ownership of Accolade Wines North America. New packaging for Geyser Peak wines debuted in July and will continue to roll-out during the fall, and the winery’s product line has been reorganized to include new wines in the luxury and ultra-premium categories as well as the introduction of Pinot Noir to its core tier of wines. In addition, Geyser Peak is developing a new website and new creative for its marketing and point-of-sale materials.
Accolade Wines acquired Geyser Peak in June 2012 and has since made a major investment in its brand and winemaking. The new packaging highlights Geyser Peak’s heritage in Sonoma County and the Alexander Valley while also giving it a fresh, contemporary look and feel. An updated Geyser Peak logo, including stronger visual cues regarding the winery’s history, figures prominently at the top of each label.
Under the direction of long-time winemaker Ondine Chattan, Geyser Peak is also introducing a number of new wines that showcase the winery’s vineyard resources and expertise with small-lot luxury wines. These include two new proprietary red blends from Alexander Valley, Tectonic and Devil’s Inkstand, plus a stylish Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley called Pluto’s Fury. The new offerings are due out in late 2013 and early 2014. Concurrently, Geyser Peak has also expanded its core tier of California appellation wines with the introduction of Pinot Noir this summer.
“Geyser Peak is one of Sonoma County’s most iconic wineries, and its wines have long been critically acclaimed,” noted Tim Matz, Managing Director for Accolade Wines North America. “We wanted to build on these assets by presenting a fresh new design that underscores the brand’s heritage while offering a strong, contemporary look. We also see a robust market for luxury wines, and we’re excited about our new high-end bottlings coming from exceptional Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley vineyards.”
Chattan added, “I’m delighted by the tremendous resources that Accolade brings to our winemaking. Their commitment to Geyser Peak is creating exciting opportunities to craft a diverse and expressive portfolio of wines that best represent our region and brand legacy.”
To round out Geyser Peak’s new consumer-facing presence, Accolade Wines is undertaking a substantial redesign of the Geyser Peak website, which now reflects many of the new design elements as well as greatly enhanced useability and functionality. The new website will debut in early October. For its creative initiatives, Geyser Peak has also developed the tagline “Reach for the Peak” to accompany its new creative design work for point-of-sale and advertising.
Founded in 1880 by Augustus Quitzow, one of Sonoma County’s pioneer winemakers, Geyser Peak Winery boasts a legendary history of ultra-premium wines. Today, under the direction of winemaker Ondine Chattan, it continues to be one of California’s most lauded wineries, consistently recognized through awards and praise for its wines.
